Words + Coffee | Here is the Place Where I Love You

Deep in the meadow, hidden far away
A cloak of leaves, a moonbeam ray
Forget your woes and let your troubles lay
And when it’s morning again, they’ll wash away
Here it’s safe, here it’s warm
Here the daisies guard you from every harm
Here your dreams are sweet and tomorrow brings them true
Here is the place where I love you
- The Hunger Games

I love going on trips because it's one of the few opportunities where I get a solid few hours to read. For labor day weekend, I went to Atlanta to visit family and friends, and had another marvelous reacding marathon. Here's what I delved into...

1. Fire - Kristin Cashore

When I went to Seattle back in June, I read the first of Kristin Cashore's novels, Graceling. I enjoyed it immensely and finished it in one weekend. I delved into the second novel, Fire, and was just as engrossed as the first one. This book is written as a sort of prequel but tells an entirely different and amazing story. It features the story of Fire, a beautiful creature, known, desired, and feared for her beauty, and her hope to change the devastating legacy created by her father. It features jealousy, epic battles, heartwarming characters and a true kind of romance that captures you in from the beginning.

2. Mockingjay - Suzanne Collins

I was desperate to finally complete the Hunger Games trilogy and couldn't resist purchasing this one while I was away as well. Talk about a completely enrapturing ending. I read it in two days and then i just sat, in shock, with how it ended. It was certainly not as I expected. There were tears - lots of them. But it was a realistic and bold conclusion to a very powerful story. Completing the three books was well worth it, albeit the fact it left me bawling like a baby and somewhat empty.

I just signed up for an account with GoodReads.com recently - hop on over there to see some other of my favorite books and recommendations! :)

Happy Monday!
