It has been about 7 years since I had the pleasure of being involved in a proposal (when my now sister-in-law was proposed to by my now brother-in-law). But when a guy I knew only by name messaged me a little over a week ago and asked me to call him, I knew something good was about to happen.
And thus began a week of covert operations. The top secret encrypted facebook messages and groups, the syncing of watches and schedules; reconnaissance missions of the land; detailed maps and blueprints outlining our plan of attack...
Operation Maybaniel was a go.
And let me tell you... boy was it SUCCESSFUL! On the weekend that Mabyn's dearest friends were converging on the North Carolina field she calls home, we perfectly orchestrated a plan for our wonderful, fantastic, sweet as honey friend Mabyn to get ENGAGED! Brian I had the perfect alibi and cover story, her friends came over for dinner, orchestrating the timing, and Daniel, the soon-to-be-fiance, the Operations Leader of this whole thing, he played his role brilliantly, even sneaking away to be miked up for the big moment.
And what a moment it was. As Brian and I waited in plain view on the walkway that Mabyn and Daniel have spent many an evening on, we watched as she wondered how and why we were there (when we were supposed to be working) then suddenly and tearfully realized that we were there for our most favoritest Mabyn in the whole wide world. Daniel took it from there, and we just cried and photographed and filmed and watched the magic.
Mabyn wrote up her detailed announcement and the lovely story of her happy time, but due to the fact that I a) frequently mention her on my blog and Instagram, and b) had the distinct pleasure of finally taking photographs for her that she will cherish and c) got to finally photograph a proposal!, I simply had to share my angle.
Here are a few photographs of this lovely, lovely couple. Congratulations to the both of you!
Ariana & Brian
I think describing her as happy would be a gross understatement...
