I didn't really grow up with lots of little babies around me. I mean, there was my little brother, who was about 1 1/2 years younger than me, but a lot of my cousins and family were around my age or older. Therefore, my experience with those of the baby variety? Limited.
Now here I am, a lot of years later and I'm going to just say it. Babies scare me. Like a lot. I mean they're like cute in other people's arms and everything, and they make adorable faces and all that good stuff. But then I hold them and they do that whole "cry hysterically" thing and I'm immediately returning them to their parents since I'm pretty sure I broke it.
A few years ago, one of my really close friends had her first baby, and I had some practice time. Which was mildly successful, but he's about four now and I'm sort of out of practice again. Why does this matter? NO, I'm not pregnant. Seriously, I'm not. But my brother and sister-in-law? She TOTALLY is!! With a GIRL! Which is AWESOME because I was BORN to be an awesome aunt. I think. I just don't know how to be that just yet. Fortunately she's not due until November, so i'm studying up and holding various peoples children, and making extensive "get out of changing the diaper" plans so I think I'll be prepared.
Back in August, we got together for her first baby shower, which was a blast! I didn't take a lot of photos, as I got elected to be the emcee for the night, but here is what I did get a chance to document...
